Writing Prompt Dec. 7 -Josh and Sam

I think that we should have a cosmetic class. My friend goes to Bergen Tech and always tells me everything she learns and how much she loves the cosmetology class they offer. I think a lot of people would be interested, and due to high interest, many people would excel in grades and the knowledge they would pick up. This class would be at the end of the day, probably 8th period, because many seniors leave, and they would not have to take away from their main classes.

The students would get mannequins, and have to practice different hair techniques and make-up techniques on them. The hair would range from coloring to simple braiding, and make-up would range from contouring to simple eyeliner. The class would be in any room with tables, and would have a nice calm vibe. There could be light music going on. The students would produce practice on their mannequins, and on occasion, each other. For example, make-up for school plays or school events.

Do Now 11/30

In my life, I am most thankful for my mother, father, and brother. My mom is extremely helpful in my everyday life and acts like a best friend. She is a mom that I can tell anything and is very cool and understanding, My father is a great influence on me. He reminds me to constantly strive for an ambitious future. His business motivates me to be as successful as he is. My brother, Michael, is very important in my life. I am so thankful to have him as a role model in my life, and I love seeing him when he is home from college. I love these three people very much, and am very thankful for them in my life.

The best Thanksgiving I ever had was a couple years ago. My family from Montana came down, which normally they do not. I got to spend the holiday with my aunt and uncle, and my cousins who I adore. Also, my family from Boston came to New Jersey. It was so memorable to spend so much time with them. The food was good, as usual, and the day was beautiful.

Our Thanksgiving tradition is to go to my grandmother's house. We go there around 3:30 and have dinner, and then at 5:30 we start dessert. After dessert we normally play cards. Thanksgiving is always a lot of fun, and I love the tradition we follow.

Do Now

Image result for s'mores fondue max brennerImage result for university of alabamaDuring my break I had a very eventful weekend. My parents went to the University of Alabama to visit my brother. Here is some information on the college. I had my best friend Crystal stay with me the whole weekend. It was her birthday and we did a lot of memorable things such as a Hoboken dinner and a party with all of our friends. We went to Maxwell Brenner for dessert. We decided to go to the one at the Garden State Mall instead of the city. I got a fondue and my friend got a strawberry crepe. Here is a video of the dessert I chose. This was an awesome day.

During the break I also went to a cheer leading camp. I learned a lot of new skills and tactics to tumble. The camp was in Pennsylvania and I went with all my closest team mates. I was really proud of myself. We advanced as individuals which will help us as a whole. The camp was pretty long but I had fun.  The football game at the field on Saturday was also very fun. Although we lost, it was a great game. I had a fun weekend.

‘But Dials’ Straining 911 Emergency Systems
Check out the article here.

It's one thing to butt dial your mom. But accidentally calling 911 is another matter.
  • Google did a survey that a large percentage of 911 calls in San Francisco were accidental
  • 30% were butt dials
  • Places a strain on the people who have to call the people back
  • The people often do not answer afterwards
  • Survey shows it has taken about fourteen minutes to frantically get a response while not knowing if it was accidental or not
  • They consider this the "pain part" of their day
  • This increased the risk of actual 911 callers

Web 2.0 Multimedia Blog Pre-Posting

Image result for english class
One teacher that I have this year is Ms. Green. She teaches English IV, and so far I really like her. In the beginning of the school year I thought she did not like me. The first day I got my phone taken away, and then was reprimanded for having Starbucks on my desk. After class I was given my phone back and she said she understood because it was the first day. I know Ms. Green likes me because the only day she preached to the class that I was "perfect." I love cute, old people and she is really cute. Her website is on the high school website, http://www.wood-ridgeschools.org/site/default.aspx?PageID=1 shown here.

Image result for wood ridge high schoolI have expected to learn about grammar and some SAT things, but we actually have been doing a lot of poetry and literary terms. I figured we would stop with literary terms because we have done them since 6th grade, but that was not the case. This is a video of some of the terms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ps5hT9AsK8I. I was also expecting to not get a lot of work, but so far we have done a lot. I thought it would be American English, but it is British English. The text is sometimes hard to understand because it was during the Saxon Anglo time period, but sometimes it can be interesting and easy. Here is a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc2MQh_GwkQ video of a figure of literature that Ms. Green has told us about.

The grading policy is a lot more strict than I expected. Last year, Ms. Hunter graded harsh, so I was prepared, but not expecting it. For example, for a simple writing do-now almost everyone got an 85. I was very surprised, and I hope I maintain a good grade in her class. We have not talked about projects or class trips yet, but im assuming that talk will come. Defiantly a slim chance of class trips, but projects will most likely be a big part. So far I really like Ms. Green's English IV class.
